Meet the coaches
Hi! My name is Dustin Shurlow
CrossFit first became a part of my life in March of 2013. Several employees, including myself, came to Top Fuel CrossFit from a local gym to experience a teaser class. Not only did we find the class gratifying, but entertaining as well. With constantly changing workouts, and the push to become better athletes, CrossFit grabbed my full attention. Fast-forward to today and the same excitement for the sport is still prevalent. Moving into owner and coaching roles has given me the opportunity to share the love of the sport with others. The ability level of each person that walks through the door is different, but the coaches have developed a program that allows each individual a chance at success. Personal achievements, no matter how small, are celebrated and recognized by those around you. From successfully completing a pull-up to squatting 400lbs, you can look around and watch as people change their lives.
I know that not all people are equipped with the skills to complete workouts the way they are written. Any impediments, whether mental or physical, may determine what you can do in the gym. However; the spirits of the coaching staff see these barriers as the building blocks of each individual’s future success story. Start small, soak in constructive criticism, work towards your goals, and leave each day knowing your life is changing.
Hi! I'm Daniella Shurlow.
When Dustin and I first heard about a CrossFit gym opening near by we instantly became interested. After taking our first class we were hooked! We couldn’t walk or sit for an entire week but that didn’t stop us for going back for more “fun”! My entire life I was never athletic, although I tried really hard to be because all of my friends were into sports. When I started CrossFit I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to do the workouts, but after the first few classes the coaches made me realize that it is a sport for everyone! Every strength, skill, or workout I did I could scale it to a movement that I was capable of doing. Fast forward 6 years later and I can do things I never thought possible. One of the many things I love about CrossFit is that I am constantly learning new skills, getting stronger at different lifts and getting faster with workouts. Transitioning into the Owner and coach role has been life changing. I love watching people better themselves every day and to see the excitement on their faces when they accomplish something they never thought they could. I also love the community at our gym. It has become a second family and home for our members and ourselves. The experience is truly amazing.
Hi! I'm Jen Pelletier.
Talk about love at first sight! I stumbled upon Top Fuel CrossFit 4 years ago and it was pure love for me since my first jumping pull-up! Fitness has been in my life since age 5 when I started taking dance lessons. From ballet to gymnastics to the dance squad in high school, I’ve always been wired for health and fitness. I can’t contain my enthusiasm while at the gym which leads me to where I am now – currently coaching the Circuit Fit class! I am enrolled at Purdue University studying for my Bachelors in Nutrition and I work as a Logistics Coordinator at ArcelorMittal as my full-time job, but hope to transition into the role of
a nutritionist within the next two years. My goal is to continue to grow the Top Fuel family and to encourage and motivate as many people as possible to reach their health and fitness goals. I promise we can make it FUN!! Come in and try it out today!
Hi! I'm Sarah Bascom.
I found CrossFit in 2014, at the age of 35, when a friend convinced me to try a class at a local gym. My previous workout experience was limited to running and the elliptical. I didn’t even know what a burpee was. I fell in love instantly! What once started as a way to lose weight and get healthy has now become my passion. This sport has changed my life. It has given me confidence, strength, and it challenges me daily. I want to share my love for CrossFit and help others discover that they are capable of so much more than they ever thought possible.
Hi! I'm Jordan Pearman.
I have been a part of the CrossFit Community since 2012. My passion for the sport continued to grow, which led me to obtain my Level 1 Certification in 2014. I’ve coached at two different affiliate locations with a dominant goal to make every athlete better. My favorite aspect of coaching is getting to help people accomplish goals they felt were unachievable. The most rewarding part about coaching is getting to know each and every one of my athletes and getting to be a part of their lives.
Hi! I'm Josh Marlow.
I started my CrossFit journey in 2013. I was bored at the time with isolated strength conditioning and I was looking for something different. I was hooked after completing my first WOD. I loved the challenge of competing against others, the stimulus the workouts offer, and the idea that I could measure my own personal growth over time. I quickly got addicted to the community aspect of CrossFit as well. I have witnessed many people get their first pull up, toes to bar, handstand walk, or muscle up, which excites me more than my own personal growth. That’s why I decided to pursue my L-1 certification and start coaching others. I want people to feel a sense of accomplishment, to help overcome challenges and barriers that others have helped me with over the years.
